VISX STAR S3

Our office uses the VISX STAR S4 ActiveTrak™ Excimer Laser System.  ActiveTrak requires no pupil dilation, which allows the doctor to center the laser beam more accurately.  Because their vision is not hindered by dilation, patients are able to appreciate the improvement in their vision immediately after being treated.

The VISX ActiveTrak eye-tracking system was developed exclusively for ophthalmic use, and specifically for eye tracking during laser vision correction (LASIK or PRK).  The older, first generation LADARVision® tracking was originally developed for military applications, not ophthalmology.  It was later adapted for ophthalmology.

VISX STAR S3 Beams

ActiveTrak uses the only 3-D eye-tracking system.  That means that ActiveTrak follows not only the left and right movements of the eye, it also follows the up and down movements that can happen when you breathe.

VISX STAR™ laser systems, which combine flexibility through variable beam and scanning technology*, produce smoother treatments.  Additionally, variable beam technology removes less tissue, which results in a faster treatment than flying spot lasers.  There is no clinical evidence indicating that flying or scanning spot technology improves outcomes.

Hudson Valley Eye Surgeons, P.C. use VISX STAR S4 ActiveTrak laser system because it is the most studied, proven laser in the industry.  More than two million procedures have been performed worldwide using VISX technology.  VISX is recognized as the leader in laser vision correction and has installed more lasers worldwide than any other company. A recent survey showed that 7 out of 10 doctors prefer VISX laser systems over others.**
